That kind of flexibility and non-traditional approach is exactly what brought one lovely couple to us recently, when we were booked to serve a BBQ spread at their wedding nearby for 65 guests.
The wedding went ahead on the 15th of August and with dinner service set for 5:30pm, Rob and the Hog Roast Goathurst team arrived a few hours early to get the catering gazebo and serving tables set up before the grill even got lit. Once it did, we quickly rustled up enough handmade beef burger patties, Thai-style chicken kebabs and slow-roasted pulled pork to allow everyone seconds (and thirds).
While the menu might sound fairly simple on paper, the results were anything but. Juicy meat, melting cheese and fried onions on top for anyone who wanted it, and sides of Greek salad, pasta salad and roasted baby new potatoes to round everything out, meant guests had plenty of gourmet flavours to pile onto their plates – or work into a sandwich is that’s the route they fancied. We also whipped up some veggie sausages and grilled vegetable kebabs, making sure the veggie and vegan guests had just as much to look forward to, which took another layer of stress off the happy couple.
By the end of the evening, the couple were absolutely elated, and more than a few guests told us it was the best wedding food they’d had in years, which for us, is what it’s all about.
