Hog Roast Abergavenny loves catering for special occasions. Last week, we had the pleasure of catering Michelle’s wedding. Weddings are (usually) a once-in-a-lifetime occasion, so the right menu is important to every couple. Michelle chose our signature hog roast which is always a popular choice with couples!
The wedding was held at Treadham Barn in Abergavenny. As soon as the ceremony finished, it was time for Hog Roast Abergavenny to serve. The couple collaborated with catering managers Rob, James and Harry to create a bespoke menu. Firstly, we greeted guests with welcome antipasti platters served on rustic wooden boards at 1.30 pm. Everyone helped themselves while the couple had photographs. This was the perfect chance for everyone to mingle. In the late afternoon, the sit-down wedding breakfast was served by our waiting staff. They opted for whole roasted salmon alongside green leaf salad and potato salad.
Once the evening guests started to arrive at 8 pm, it was time to serve a second feast for 80 people. And this is when our signature whole roasted pork became the star of the show. Not forgetting a helping of our delectable crispy crackling and sage and onion stuffing. What many don’t realise is that roasting a whole pig isn’t a quick task. We set up the roasting equipment in the morning and got the pig on the spit in the early afternoon. It takes around 6 hours for the pork to cook fully, until it becomes tender with that melt-in-the-mouth crunchy skin. Alongside this, there was a selection of sides including tomato and mozzarella salad, coleslaw and new potatoes. Vegetarians were also kept in mind with grilled vegetable and halloumi skewers. And then came the moment everyone was waiting for – dessert. Guests had the choice of either vacherins of strawberries and passion fruit cream, or cheesecake.
We’d love to extend our thanks to Michelle for booking Hog Roast Abergavenny! If you’d like to find out more about our wedding catering packages, then please get in touch.
